The Bernie Gunther series continues in 'A Quiet Flame'. Ex-Berlin homicide detective and private eye Bernie Gunther finds himself in Argentina in 1950, a time when the government offered a safe haven for Nazi war criminals. Gunther encounters many complicated twists-and-turns in his investigation of his case until the final shocking truth is revealed. There has been the use of historical fiction and famous Nazis to create the dialogues and plot. The book meshes nicely with the previous entries in the series and should be read as part of the whole. But it can be read and enjoyed independently also. This thriller is thoroughly engrossing.
