Dharmen Shah was a real estate developer. This book is his and Masterji's story who refuses to leave his home in the building which goes for redevelopment. Masterji is a retired schoolteacher. He is where Shah found his match. Shah offered him, and his neighbors- a buyout, in a building where his project would be built. Masterji profoundly refused to give in to this offer, as he did not want to leave the place he had called home for years and years. The neighbors surrendered to the worries and decided to take things under their control. A story filled with greed, selfishness and making enemies in the process. Aravind Adiga loads this book with suspense and curiosity.
