The air at a medieval abbey in northern Italy is stirred and disturbed. A monk has allegedly committed suicide. Two sects of the Church are in discussions to debate their respective ideologies. In the middle of all the internal turmoil, friar William of Baskerville arrives at the abbey and pursues an investigative quest. The wealth-amassing pope's behaviour seems odd and opposition is faced by the friar. Adso of Melk, learning under the friar's umbrella, narrates the story of how the learned friar uses pure logic and the ancient science of symbolism to identify scattered clues inside the walls of the abbey that hint at a series of deaths that have occurred. Misguided by staunch believers of the divine and those blinded by superstition, the friar sticks to his logical thinking to get to the bottom of things making use of the learnings from history and culture. This mystery book is rich in writings of medieval history and traditions of ancient culture.
