It is the first book in the popular Shopaholic Series. We meet Rebecca Bloomwood who works as a journalist for a financial magazine. She dislikes her job and finds it boring. However, she loves to shop and can't seem to stop spending money even while being buried in debt. She becomes deeper in debt by spending money on unnecessary things and comes up with rational explanations to justify her over spending. She is always avoiding her bank manager who wants to make an appointment to discuss her credit card debt. The plot deals with an interesting romance and whether or not she manages to clear her debt.
