2 States: story of my marriage


This is the love story of a Punjabi boy, Krish Malhotra from Delhi and a Tamil Brahmin girl, Ananya Swaminathan who meet in Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. They fall in love and plan to get married. The story focuses on their struggles to convince their parents to accept their choice, as their families being from different states, oppose this marriage, which is very obvious in India. Chetan Bhagat introduces to both character's families and instances where both parties were present, the cross cultural tension and discomfort they experience. This novel depicts the importance of getting the families approval before any important life decision especially marriages in India. Read it for a simple writing and a mix of college life, humor, love and the essence of India and its cross-cultural love marriages. The novel has been adapted in the Bollywood movie 'Two States'.
