However, I feel one really needs to know a little bit about the assassination of JFK, the conspiracy theories around it, the people alleged, the USA anti communist geo politics around the 60s. I have always been fascinated to know more about this incident in the history, so over the years I have heard a plethora of podcasts, watched a few documentaries and movies around this subject. So any fiction around this topic was gonna have my interest. Story is about an English teacher (Jake Epping) in 2011, with the help of his ailing friend finds a time traveling tunnel which lands him in 1958. They identify JFK's assassination in 1963 to be a crucial event in the history which changed the course of US and the world. So Jake takes upon the mission to go back in time and try to foil the assassination. Will he succeed, I will leave that for you to read. Underneath this historical fiction, also lies a beautiful love story. Stephen King does a fantastic job of weaving romance with thriller. In the end, it was a love story for good, and a heart breaking one. The final dance between Jake and Sadie was hear wrenching. Don't know why this book doesn't necessarily gets the necessary recognition as some of the other Stephen king book does. This one is certainly up there. And Stephen King, well he is GOAT.
