And The Mountains Echoed

As always, this is the third story by Khaled Hosseini set in pre-war Afghanistan. Abdullah, ten, is more like a parent than a brother to Pari, who is only three. One day the siblings have to cross the desert to Kabul with their father and then fate unfolds.

An emotional multi-generational story

A finger had to be cut, to save the hand. - That line shapes the entire lives of siblings Abdullah and Pari. The book starts with a fantasy tale and then enters the real life of its characters. - It's a multi-generational story told from multiple perspectives. At times, the back stories of some characters feel a bit unnecessary to the larger story, but they are beautifully told and provide an immersive experience. - Like in his other books, Hosseini makes sure to pack an emotional punch in this one. The narrator characters are mature and introspective; there's a lot you can learn from them. I loved the way they explored their relationships with the closest people around them. - The descriptions throughout the book are splendid, as always. - It's an easy read and is totally worth the time. You won't regret it!
