Set in the 19th century England, this is the story of a horse, Black Beauty, who is born and raised in happy circumstances. The story is told in Black Beauty's own words. Although his early upbringing was very joyful, his later experiences get worse. He makes friends with high-spirited horses, Ginger, Merrylegs and Sir Oliver. His ideal life ends when he is sold along with Ginger to Earlshall Park. Beauty passes from one master to another, mostly all mistreating him. While promoting animal welfare, this book deals with the values of kindness, sympathy, companionship and respect to animals. Read this classic for a memorable tale of a horse.
Both my kids 10 yo and 12 yo really loved this book. It is an autobiography of a horse and a fast read. Kid learn to relate to horses and also become aware of the harassment on animals
