The book kicks off with the main character, Neki Brar, as she sits on her terrace with her diary and contemplates suicide. A young and educated girl from Amritsar, Punjab, whose dream is to become a film maker. For this she gives up her job in the management field and moves to Mumbai. She begins her journey into the world of Bollywood as an Assistant Director, at the lowest level. Through her hard work and dedication, she begins to make progress and slowly climbs up the ranks. Despite her better judgement, she gets involved with a rising star of Bollywood. What follows are numerous ups and downs that give the Readers a glimpse into her reason for contemplating suicide.
