Crazy in Alabama


This hilarious story is narrated by the adult Peejoe describing all his vivid childhood memories. In 1965, a 12-year-old orphan Peejoe lives in a small town in Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement. Peejoe and his older brother Wiley move to their Uncle's home where racial conflict brings bloodshed and violence. Their aunt Lucille who dreamt of television stardom is heading to Hollywood after killing her abusive husband. She takes her husband's head everywhere she goes. Discovering the head, she is arrested and taken back to Alabama. Being convicted of murder, Lucille is sentenced to prison and put on a probation with the fact that she needs psychiatric help. A funny novel to read.
