In this first book in Divergent Series, Beatrice Prior is a member of a dystopian Chicago world. This society has been dividing its residents into 5 particular groups so as to maintain its peace. These are: Candor who values honesty the most, Abnegation - selflessness, Dauntless - bravery, Amity - peacefulness and Erudite - intelligence. All citizens take a test at the age of 16 to decide if they want to stay with the faction of their family or transfer to another faction forever. Beatrice's test results are uncertain and puzzling. Ultimately she decides to abandon her family group and enter another. But of course, the transfer is not easy. Divergent is a depiction of Beatrice's journey to becoming a person she seeks to be. An engaging and fun novel!
