This book is written by the best-selling travel writer Bill Bryson in which he describes his experiences in Australia. It is divided into three sections. The first part details his journey from Sydney to Perth aboard the Indian Pacific Railway while also describing humorous historical accounts of the early settlers and explorers of Australia. In the second part, he provides historical accounts as to how Australia was discovered and illustrates how Australians founded a prosperous society. The last part covers his journey to the Great Barrier Reef and the monolithic rock Uluru.
