Both of them bright and class toppers, Shrikant and Shrimati, are neighbours in a town of Karnataka. With the passage of time, as school life comes to an end, both find themselves attracted to each other, having been competing and growing up together all their childhood. Unsurprisingly, Shrikant and Shrimati decide to get married and start a life together. Shrikant commences his corporate life and rapidly gains success and fame in the IT world. Shrimati, on the other hand, resigns herself to being home-maker and live her life as Shrikant's wife, ignoring her own academic interests and a prospective bright career. When one day, Shrimati is confronted by an old professor, it strikes her how much she has denounced for the sake of being a housewife. Sudha Murty's story strikes a chord with the hearts of the young and contemporary India and talks about the fading away of a married life when personal ambitions take the forefront.
