This is the first book in the acclaimed Harry Potter Series. Harry Potter is an orphan who lives with his mean Uncle and Aunt in a tiny cupboard under the stairs. He is told that his parents died in a car crash. Around his 11th birthday, he learns that he is a wizard and joins the Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He learns of his fame and true heritage, that he survived a death blow by the dark wizard Lord Voldemort and that his parents were famous wizards who died protecting him. At Hogwarts, he befriends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The book details their adventures and experiences in Hogwarts. They stumble into a forbidden corridor and find a three-headed dog guarding a trapdoor. They find out what's hidden underneath is the Philosopher's Stone, which Voldemort wants badly.
