Set in Delhi, 'Home' is the story of a north Indian cloth merchant family where every tradition, no matter how outdated, is followed. The Banwari Lal family once lived in Lahore and moved to Delhi after partition. They are now into saree selling business in Delhi. Spanning three generations of the family, it depicts their growing joint family, adjustments, small desires, sacrifices and the way they manage to live together besides the growing family tensions. They also struggle with the fashion clothing of the likes of jeans and ready suits, that impacts their traditional business. Giving insight into Indian culture, religious beliefs, education, marriage and family orientation, Home is about family life with all it's ups and downs, which makes for an easy and engaging read.
