I Too Had A Dream is a true story told by the visionary and revolutionary Dr. Verghese Kurien. He is known for the milk production movement in India. The book narrates the innovative story of how farmers were empowered to build strong co-operatives and increase the production of milk, which ultimately resulted in India becoming the highest milk producer in the world. He became friends with the cooperative chief Mr. Tribhuvandas Patel and was impressed by the integrity and commitment of the cooperative's members. He joined them to sell milk in a more organized fashion. The Anand model of a cooperative became famous soon and seeing the idea germinate well, the Government requested him to form the National Dairy Development Board to promote such cooperatives all over India. Milk production expanded and India had a surplus for the next 30 years, becoming the largest producer in the world. Amul became a famous brand too.
