Lost Horizon


Lost Horizon is the story of four travelers' experiences, after being stranded in the Himalayas as they encounter a remote monastery and the wonderful people who live there. Conway, the main character of the four, is accompanied by three other people, Mallinson, Miss Brinklow and Barnard. They flee a dangerous area of India, their plane is hijacked and are left stranded in the middle of a remote mountain range. The monastery, Shangri-La rescues them and the four travellers arrive in safety at Shangri-La. Conway falls in love with the Valley of Blue Moon. They eventually find their way out of Shangri-La and back home, but Conway consumed by regret for the peace that he left behind goes in search of his paradise again. A fantasy from the 1930s, read this philosophical exploration wrapped up in a mystery tale. The book covers multiple philosophical themes covering war, peace, longevity and happiness.
