He was the seventh Marquess of Londonderry, the heir of one of Britain's grandest and wealthiest aristocratic families. A very hostile person and an unsympathetic character, he wanted to be a great statesman. He was the sole British cabinet member who actively urged friendship with Hitler's Germany before WWII and attempted to align the interests of his government with the Germans.
