J.D. Salinger, one of the highly praised authors of the 20th century gives a collection of nine short stories. The characters of these narratives are typical American men and women living in suburbs. All these characters on the surface seem happy and content but their hidden insecurities and shortcomings is exposed by the author. With these stories, Salinger tries to communicate inner feelings by giving vivid characterization of people. He also includes a touch of humorous irony in all these stories.
