Room

Room by Emma Donoghue is narrated by a five year old boy (Jack), who has spent his entire life living inside a small room where he and his mother are held prisoner. Jack has never known a human being other than his mother, who he calls 'Ma'. To Jack, Room is the entire world. He was born and brought up in the Room. Donoghue has done an amazing job of letting us think like an isolated, innocent boy. His life is turned upside down when he learns that outside of Room is a big world. This book describes what it means to journey from one world to another. Room potrays the boundless bond between mother and child. Not a light-hearted story but very gripping and brave!

Funny, moving and sad

This book is so beautiful!! Emma Donoghue explores so many themes that we normally chose to avoid, in their simplest raw forms, told in the voice of an innocent 5 year old. Jack's innocence, trust and faith make you cry, laugh and beg for more. Tremendously moving.
