Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati is the founder of the Arya Samaj and is an eminent figure in the history of India. As a social and religious reformer, he took note of the many evils that engulfed Hindu society with passage of time. In the Middle Ages, the Hindu religion witnessed the upspring of many divisions and sects within itself. The teachings of the Vedas were gradually forgotten or contorted to suit the minds of the people. Stringent caste systems and ritualistic worship of deities replaced homogeneity and nature worship. The Hindu society was deeply divided into sections on the basis of birth of individuals and various malpractices cropped up due to this. Superstition and polytheism was at its peak when the Maharishi wrote about the actual teachings of the Vedas in this revelation of a book. He reverted to the origin of the "Hindu" society and professed the oneness of God and futility of deity worship. He expressed strong opposition to the concept of caste divide and taught the world about the harmonious principles of the Vedic age. This book, evidence of the revolution brought about by Dayanand Saraswati and his attempt to restore the sanctity of Hinduism, is relevant in all times and ages.
