The Great Railway Bazaar is an account of Paul Theroux of getting on a train in London's Victoria Station and riding trains through Europe, Asia, far east as Japan and then back to Europe. Written in 1975, Paul Theroux describes his four and a half month train journey with some famous trains like the Orient Express, the Khyber Pass Local and the Trans-Siberian Express etc. With venturing into uncommon places, Theroux describes them along with anecdotes about the people he meets on each leg of his journey. He also gives vivid descriptions on the different kinds of fascinating people that he encounters on the trip, their appearances and personalities. The descriptions of incredible scenery he takes in on his trip from London to the Far East makes this travel narrative an entertaining timeless classic.
