The Hunger Games is a science fiction novel. It is about 16 year old Katniss who lives in one of the 12 poor districts surrounding the Capitol region in the nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America. The wealthy Capitol exercises political control over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games is the name of the annual event held in Capitol in which one boy and one girl, aged 12-18, from each of the twelve districts are selected by lottery and forced to fight and compete in a battle to the death.
